While in China last week I went to a very busy Stew Pot restaurant in Shanghai. It's fully booked about 2 to 3 days before. However they manage the turnaround and have a wait area for those who just might get a table. They have a great idea to keep these people there. They supply all those waiting with origami projects - each competed model is worth a given discount on their meal. Groups of youngsters are there busily folding paper for a couple of hours to get a big discount.
I teach the use of TRIZ for innovation - it has 40 rules - of which one is "Turning lemons into lemonade" - this is an example.
